Minor Injuries

If your injury is not serious, you can get help from a minor injuries unit (MIU), rather than going to an A&E department. Minor Injury Units, Walk-in-Centres and Urgent Care Centres provide non-urgent services for a range of conditions offering convenient access to healthcare for minor injuries and illnesses, such as:

  • Cuts – we can use glue, steristrips (paper stitches) or sutures to close wounds
  • Small burns or scalds
  • Bites and stings
  • Sprains and certain fractures (upper and lower limbs)
  • Minor head injuries
  • Infected wounds
  • Foreign bodies in eyes

No appointments are needed and assessments are carried out by experienced NHS nurses who provide a skilled, safe and caring service.
