Falls Prevention
Falling or worrying about unsteadiness and falling is a common problem and can really impact your confidence and day-to-day life.
Steady on Your Feet Devon provides free access to advice, guidance, and resources for anyone in Devon to use.
Self-assessment
- You can complete a quick and easy self-assessment. The results will only be visible to you and not shared elsewhere.
- It will give you advice and an action plan on what to do next:
- It might be as simple as ensuring you are wearing the correct footwear or improving lighting at home
- or you might need to improve your muscle strength to improve your balance
- Or it might advise you to see a health care professional
Steady On Your Feet Devon contains simple tips to stay active, independent and safe, carrying out everyday activities, together with information on Strength & Balance classes (up to 6 weeks free) open to everyone in Devon by self-referral – you do not require a healthcare professional to refer you.
You will have an assessment at the beginning of the course. The assessor has close links with the community rehabilitation team and will discuss a referral with you if they feel that an individual rehabilitation programme might be better suited to you.
