For many people across Devon, work can be a source or stress and anxiety. For some people, 'work' can be the cause of this stress, perhaps down to excessive expectations, challenging colleagues and overcoming workplace obstacles. For others, the source of this stress, anxiety, depression or low mood may not come from the workplace. It may stem from difficulties at home, such as bereavement, finance, relationship breakdown or other familial issues. It is estimated that 1 in 3 people who are of a working age will endure depression or anxiety in some form during their lifetime.
Some of us thrive on these pressures and challenges; it may give us focus and help performance at work and our motivation and energy at home. However, excessive pressures can lead to stress; this happens when a person feels as though they do not have the resources to cope with the demands placed upon them.
Harmful levels of endured stress can lead to mental health difficulties such as anxiety and depression, however there is a lot of information out there that can help you deal with these feelings.
